Origin Story & Significance

The main story behind the origin of Aghor Bhairava is associated with Lord Shiva’s immense anger resulting from Sati’s self-immolation. In an act of rage, Shiva cut off her head with His trident which created intense heat that proved unbearable even for Him.

As He felt helpless in blazing single direction fiery terror His anger suddenly shifted upon himself in an attempt at restoring balance within Himself.

“Destroying My own creation? Am I not crueler than nature herself?! SHAME ON ME! MUST REPAY THIS”.

And so it happened that there stood shaking aroused Vijaya ( Victorious ) form with appalling thoughts shivering through His Veins , eyes sparkling like lightning . .Thus emerged Nagaraja’s one of fiercest aggressive ardent avatar , “AGHOR BHAIRAV” – furious compassionate lord whose mere gaze evoked fear among enemies and provided comfort even amidst times of distress’. 

 Nature &  Characteristics Being a perfect fusion between emotions and strength , Bhairav displays two distinct forms called Tandava and Lasya thereby representing both cruelty as well as compassion simultaneously .Tandava symbolizes ferocity whereas Lasya stands for vibrant excellences .When both aspects meet together they define ultimate beauty ‘Shiva – Shakti’ embodying grace & ; beholding cosmic truth .  One can easily recognize him with lion faced crowned skull skeletal figure wearing garland out of skulls cadavers draped around white cloth having dazzling third eye shinning fiercely carrying Trident weapon ( Trisula ),Damaru drum madeup from human bone accompanied by naga disguise human figures beseeching him along either side offering flowers etc. This form alone have ability to burns Mother Earth itself such dreadful omnipotent fearsomely impressive awesome attribute !.MANTRA AND ITS EXTENT OF POWERS RESIDING IN IT
